Frequent or chronic stress is extremely taxing on our physical and psychological wellbeing. It drains our energy, decreases our inspiration and motivation, increases our sense of apathy and cynicism, and diminishes our life productivity and potential. In such states, it is difficult to be fully engaged in our work, relationships and life itself.
Examples of how stress reduces your life productivity include:
You are less likely to start new projects or finish existing ones. Whether it be a project related to your home or work, stress can destroy our drive and ability to get things done.
You are less likely to invest in personal growth and development to enrich yourself. You may find yourself with no enthusiasm or desire to read books, take up a new hobby, or learn a new skill.
You are more likely to fall prey to addictive or compulsive habits, like overeating, drinking or gambling. These in turn create further stress on your health, relationships and finances.
When you lack mental and physical energy, you are less likely to try new things, broaden your horizons or diversify your experiences. The more dull, tedious and repetitive our life becomes, the more our wellbeing and happiness levels suffer. But you can break this cycle by making stress reducing exercises and healthy lifestyle habits a priority in your life.
